SCHIRN STUDIO. DIE KUNSTWERKSTATT

Structured as ongoing workshops, individual courses provide the opportunity for in-depth exploration of concepts, methods, media, and techniques of visual arts. The thematic units – three consecutive sessions for children aged 6–9 and 9–12, and adolescents aged 12–15, and six sessions for adolescents aged 15–19 – inspire curiosity towards new approaches and encourage unconventional modes of thinking and expression.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE OF TECHNOLOGY: THERE'S SOMETHING IN THE AIR

SCHIRN STUDIO COURSES 9-12 YEARS

Course 1: WEDNESDAY, 27 NOV, 4 DEC, 11 DEC, 4-5.30 PM
Course 2: WEDNESDAY, 22 JAN., 29 JAN. 5 FEB., 4-5.30 P.M.

When we think of water cycles, air formations or biological observations, we first think of the natural sciences. In this course, the artistic aspects are shown and the children experiment at the interface between art and science.

ART KNOWLEDGE: CONCEPT = ART

SCHIRN STUDIO COURSES 12-15 YEARS

THURSDAY, 28 NOVEMBER, 5,12 DECEMBER, 4-5.30 PM

Art in which the ideas and not the end product are the most important thing is called conceptual art. These works often consist of simple materials, texts or instructions that describe or initiate processes. By analysing Hans Haacke's works, we develop artistic concepts and consider how they could be implemented.

BASIC KNOWLEDGE ART: MIRRORED AND REFLECTED

SCHIRN STUDIO COURSES 6-9 YEARS

Course 1: TUESDAY, 26 NOV, 3 DEC, 10 DEC, 4 - 5.30 PM
Course 2: TUESDAY, 21 JAN, 28 JAN, 4 FEB, 4 - 5.30 PM

Does art always have to be a painting or a statue? In our exhibition of works by Hans Haacke, you can see objects, installations and other forms of art that are reminiscent of a scientific laboratory. Children aged 6-9 experiment artistically with foils and reflective surfaces in the course.

MEETING POINT ART: POLITICAL + PARTICIPATIVE

SCHIRN STUDIO COURSES 15-19 YEARS

FRIDAY, 15, 22, 29 NOVEMBER, 6,13, 20 DECEMBER, 5-7 PM

Hans Haacke is known for his political art, e.g. with the project ‘DER BEVÖLKERUNG’, which he conceived for the German Bundestag in 2000 and which continues to this day. The work combines criticism with the desired participation of individual members of the Bundestag. We create art at the interface to political activism.
