RESISTANCE AND HOPE
TUESDAY, FEBRUARY 25, 2025, 7.30 PM
Storytelling Salon to Mark 40 Years of the Initiative Black People in Germany
These are challenging and promising times. The history of resistance within the Black movement can give us hope. It reminds us how, 40 years ago, Black people in Germany came together once again after World War II to establish a supportive community that would go on to emancipate itself. Through knowledge-sharing, political interventions, writing, and performances, they brought Black life and culture into the public eye and called attention to racism, aiming to bring change to society.
The stories shared during this evening of storytelling, readings, and performances will reflect on what resistance means and how to hold on to hope despite challenging political circumstances. Taking place during the annual Black History Month, this year's event also celebrates the 10th anniversary of the Storytelling Salon in Frankfurt.
Featuring oral history, opinions, and emotions presented by various storytellers, this evening will offer space for empowerment—just after the federal elections.
