FEMINISM ACROSS GENERATIONS

Thursday, JANUARY 9, 2025, 8 PM

In the second session, Samira El Ouassil speaks with journalists Susan Djahangard and Gabriela Herpell about how feminism has changed, adapted, and evolved over the decades. Each generation of women* has found its own way to fight against oppression, inequality, and discrimination. But what does the connection between feminist movements across generations look like? Which struggles and successes remain relevant today, and what new challenges have emerged?

POWER AND PLEASURE

Friday, January 24, 2025, 8 pm

To conclude the series, moderator Samira El Ouassil and porn studies scholar Madita Oeming focus on the topics of desire, power, and self-determination, exploring the question: How are feminism and pornography related? Two terms often seen in conflict with one another, but which can also reveal unexpected synergies. How does feminism fit into the world of pornography, and what role do women play in this industry?

BODY RECLAIMED

FRIDAY, DECEMBER 6, 8 PM

What societal norms shape our understanding of beauty? Our perception of beauty is closely tied to expectations and role models that often turn the female body into an object of control and judgment. These norms not only influence what is considered beautiful but also shape how self-determination and freedom are perceived. In the first session of FEEDBACK FEMINISM, moderator Samira El Ouassil, Franziska Setare Koohestani, and Sibel Schick explore the aesthetic, political, and cultural dimensions of beauty. They examine how beauty ideals are intertwined with power structures and how these can be challenged. It becomes clear: the discussion about beauty goes far beyond appearances—it touches on fundamental questions of sexual self-determination and control over one’s own body, such as the right to abortion.
