Johanna
Bruckner

Artist

Johanna Bruckner's multimedia works are dedicated to the increasingly complex mechanisms of digital communication systems, the functioning of artificial intelligence and algorithms, and examine their interaction with physically real people and their intimate and social relationships. The human body takes center stage in her videos and performances. In this context, Bruckner explores the question of what changes emotions, intimacy and interpersonal interactions are exposed to through the influence of digital systems.

Johanna Bruckner studied fine arts, cultural studies and ethnology in Vienna, Berlin, New York, Stockholm and Hamburg. She lives and works in Zurich. Her work has been shown internationally, including at transmediale 2020, Berlin, the 57th Venice Biennale and the Migros Museum für Gegenwartskunst, Zurich. Bruckner is currently a scholarship holder of the Jan van Eyck Academy in Maastricht.
