Artist
Eglė Budvytytė (*1981) works at the intersection of visual and performative art. Her work focuses on the examination of normativity, gender and social roles in public space. The artist works in multimedia and uses songs, poems, videos and performances to explore the relationship between the body, the audience, the environment and the ecosystem. She lives in Vilnius and Amsterdam. Her work has been shown internationally at Canal Projects, New York (2023), the 59th Venice Biennale, Venice, (2022), Riga International Biennial of Contemporary Art (RIBOCA 2) (2020); Renaissance Society, Chicago (2018); Lofoten International Art Festival (2017); Block Universe Festival, London (2017); Art Dubai Commissions, Dubai (2017); Liste, Art Basel (2015); 19th Biennale of Sydney (2014); Art Basel (2015). Biennale of Sydney (2014); De Appel Arts Centre; Centre for Contemporary Art, Vilnius (2012) and Stedeljik Museum, Amsterdam (2012). Budvytytė was resident at Le Pavillon, Palais de Tokyo, Paris (2012) and at Wiels, Center for Contemporary Art, Brussels (2013).
