Pounding. Needle-sharp. Theatrical. The sound installation by Swiss artist Daniele Buetti in the SCHIRN rotunda will be based on an approximately twenty-five-minute audio experience which engages the visitors directly by way of hypnosis techniques. Through an act of speech, the listener will gain access to a spiritual dimension that helps him recharge his intellectual and spiritual resources. At the core of the work will be a so-called "color cleansing" -- a guided meditation free of burdensome feelings and thought patterns. The visualization of various colors -- orange, yellow, green, blue, etc. -- with the aid of language will be as strongly suggested by Buetti's hypnosis as is its psychological impact. In this purifying, consciousness-raising ceremony, the phenomenon of color will operate as a proxy or thing on which a person is capable of focusing without regard for semantic differences or cognitive misunderstandings. Ultimately, all that counts is the word, the sound, the effect.
