In her artistic work, Joséphine Sagna deals with the question of identity of a black woman in a white majority society. It is about prejudice and racism. Self- and partner perception, intimacy and self-presentation form the thematic basis. Building on this, a cosmos is created that always focuses on the female body. Instead of generic model types, the artist concentrates on self-confident, strong BIPoC women who oppose the Western ideal of beauty. Joséphine wants to portray the essence of the figures, capturing their nature in a multi-layered and fragmented image.
